George Dilboy

Left is an image of George Dilboy, a Greek immigrant from Alatsata, in Asia Minor to Somerville.  He fought as part of the Yankee Division in WWI and died at the battle of Belleau Woods, in France.  For his uncommon valor in the face of the enemy, he was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, the first Greek American to be so honored.  A bronze bust of him sits in front of City Hall on Highland Avenue.
